Every time I visit Miami, I swear I feel like it gets better and better. In fact, it’s one of the few cities I’d ever consider living in outside of California. I know, it’s crazy.
But I can also say that with every trip I get to see more and more of what this city has to offer. Now that I’m older, my perspective on Miami has broadened, and I feel like I’m finally seeing the city in its fullest capacity. And let me just say, I’m liking what I’m seeing.
Even though I’ve been to Miami a handful of times, it was mostly to visit family, which is wonderful in itself, but it just makes for a different kind of trip. I knew I was missing out on a different side of Miami, and now that I was going back, I made it my goal to see as much of it as possible. So I did my research like the good little traveler I am and found some new stops to hit on my week vacation.
After a quick search, one spot that had really sparked my interest was the Wynwood Art District.
Wynwood Art District
Imagine an entire neighborhood that not only supports, but encourages local street artists to display their creative designs all throughout the area. They also have a separate area called the Wynwood Walls that showcases some of the most artistic graffiti designs I have ever seen.
This small area also included an art gallery that displayed some smaller-scaled pieces but was still just as inspiring.
The Wynwood Walls is a park that is reserved for some of the hottest upcoming artists, and lucky for us its free to enter.
Even though the incredible street art was what initially drew me in, the surrounding neighborhood itself seemed to be a hidden gem as well.
Walking through the streets I began to notice that it had a stellar food scene with an eclectic mix of restaurants.
Although I didn’t test out any of these restaurants myself, there was something else that ended up catching my eye. Breweries are EVERYWHERE within this neighborhood, and if you know me, you know I love myself a good brewery.
We stopped at a place called Concrete Beach Brewery which I would highly recommend. It’s a fun place with a laid-back atmosphere while also offering a wide variety of craft brews to sip and sample. You can either order a normal pour or a flight of 4. I, of course, did the flight and was not disappointed one bit.
So as you can see, I would definitely recommend checking this spot out. If you are ever in Miami, make sure to make a trip over to the Wynwood Walls. Whether you come for the breweries, art, or an excellent insta photo op, this area of Miami definitely is worth a visit.
Below are some of my favorite art pieces at the Wynwood Walls and the surrounding neighborhood.
